GENERAL NOTES

  • SIMPLE THINGS: We started with a drum loop programmed on the Mac & D4, then added the ethnic keyboard patch on nthe chorus, alternated with eighth note patterns on verses. Vocalist II used for Gregorian Chant backgrounds.
  • I NEED YOU: Started with the heartbeat drum loop programmed on the D4. Bluthner Grand used for all live keyboard work.
  • NEVER ENDING LOVE: Click track was established first, then live takes were done using the Roland JV-880 for the piano.
  • CHARADE: Live snare drum loop was done to begin with. Then, the second drum part was overdubbed with bass. Violin part was tripled in the mix. Megaphone effect at the top was done in the mix.
  • ALL IT TAKES: Bluthner Grand was the first instrument down with a click track. Everything else was added on top. Live cello was added at the mixing location.
  • SEEMED SO PERFECT: Programmed drum loop, acoustic guitar around piano melodic line. Cello was added at the mixing location.
  • HOLD ON: Drum bass used as a click track and kept in the final mix. Piano solo on JV880 was added right before the mix, then "voices" were added in the mixing location to enhance the last chorus.
  • GOODBYE: The second take was the one. All in the same room for that "live" feel. Saxophone was recorded in my garage for that extra natural reverb!
  • DREAMS OF IMAGINATION: Programmed bass, drums. Violin descending lines were recorded using a Neuman 87. Recorded Pizzacatto sections were tripled in the mix.
  • SATISFIED: Programmed drum loop. Live bass added to the loop. The vocals were done on two tracks, then the megaphone effect was added to one.
  • WAIT: One take. Didn't think it could be done! The last song we recorded.
  • I REMEMBER: Programmed drum loop to begin, then it was mixed out at the beginning. A hint of the loop comes in with the piano intro.
